Special Children's Charities
Created in 1969, Special Children's Charities serves thousands of Chicagoans with intellectual disabilities by providing millions of dollars annually for year-round athletic competition and sports training programs administered by the Chicago Park District (CPD), the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), and various agencies throughout the City of Chicago.
Special Children’s Charities also provides life-enriching programs such as a Creative Arts Therapy Program through CPS, an After 22 Project through City Colleges of Chicago, an athlete-produced cable access television show, and a series of popular online events, like online cooking and art classes. Participants are of all ages, live in all 77 neighborhoods of the city, the majority of whom live at or below the poverty line.
